The Government has announced a new £1 million fund for organisations in England developing or extending social action projects to help carers.

Applications for the Carers Social Action Support Fund will be open until 22 October 2014.

Minister for Civil Society Brooks Newmark said: “The new Carers Social Action Support Fund will enable organisations to harness the power of social action to support people who carry out this incredibly important role. I urge relevant organisations looking to build on, or adapt, inspiring social action projects for carers to apply.”

The fund is for projects in England supporting adults who are caring, unpaid, for adults. It is open to organisations from voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector, public bodies and businesses either with a social mission or involved in delivery of public service.

The Carers Social Action Support Fund is part of the Centre for Social Action, a collaboration between the Cabinet Office and UK innovation foundation Nesta.
