Employers for Carers (EfC) was delighted to host an in-person networking event on Tuesday 14 March. The event was held at EfC member BT’s London office and the theme was Supporting carer health and wellbeing in the workplace. Carers UK’s Chair Nick Baird opened the well-attended event with a short speech and thanked those for travelling to London for the event. Employers for Carers (EfC) was delighted to host their first in-person Networking Event since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic on 11 October. The event was held at EfC member Aviva’s London offices and the theme was Championing carers in the workplace. Employers for Carers (EfC) hosted the Summer Networking Event on 5 July which followed on from Carers Week’s theme of Making caring visible, valued and supported. Helen Walker, Chief Executive of Carers UK, chaired the event and began by updating EfC members on recent developments at the charity including highlights from Carers Week. Employers for Carers (EfC) hosted the first member networking event of the year on Wednesday 30 March. The theme was Hybrid working and carers: Building on the lessons from COVID-19. The event was opened by Carers UK’s Chair Nick Baird who welcomed the newest EfC members who have joined since the last networking event in October 2021. He also congratulated the most recently accredited Carer Confident employers which takes the total to 48 organisations achieving the benchmark. On 19 October, Employers for Carers hosted their Autumn virtual networking event on the theme of Supporting Carers in COVID-19: Recovery and Return. The Summer EfC networking event shared its theme with this year’s Carers Week, ‘Making Caring Visible and Valued’, and gave members the opportunity to discuss issues and activities related to the annual campaign. The event was held virtually on 23 June 2021 and saw a wonderfully high turn-out across members from all sectors. The event was once again opened and chaired by Nick Baird, Chair of Carers UK. On 18 May 2021 we hosted out first corporate roll-out event, designed to help members get the most out of the EfC and Digital Resource for Carers platforms. The session included short demonstrations from the team on each platform, focussing on the e-learning resources, toolkits and new journey maps (EfC Digital) and About Me, Learning for Living, Jointly, Upfront and MyBackUp (Digital Resource for Carers). There was a further discussion specifically around the newly refreshed line manager e-learning resource, which is adaptable, non-prescriptive and includes practical case studies about dealing with different scenarios involving carers in the workplace. The Spring EfC networking event took place virtually on 21 April 2021 and it was wonderful to see so many new and familiar faces on screen! The theme of the event was ‘Identification and Self-Identification: Recognising and acknowledging carers in the workplace’, and we were pleased to hear a lot of thoughtful discussion and sharing of best practice around the subject.
