Members' Networking Event | October 2013

Hosted by KPMG at their state of the art HQ this members' networking event provided an opportunity for a discussion around the landmark Task and Finish Group report which was launched on 27 August as well as opportunities to network with other members.

At the event, Employers for Carers and Carers UK also launched a new research survey into the impact of caring for a family member or friend with dementia on both employers and employees.

We are carrying out this research to improve our understanding of:

• the key issues and support needs for those employees combining work and caring for someone with dementia
• the practical ways in which employers and other parties can help
• the pressures which can cause people to leave work to care and how these can be addressed.

The surveys

There are 2 surveys running in parallel; one for employers and one for employees.

The employer survey is for organisations of all sizes in all sectors. It can be completed by an MD, an HR professional or an owner manager as appropriate.

The employee survey is for anyone who is (or has recently been) both working and caring for someone with dementia. (Carers UK is also conducting wider research into the impact of caring but this survey focusses specifically on people who are both working and caring for someone with dementia.)

The survey will close on Friday 20 December 2013 and we will publish the results by March 2014, including recommendations for action and a practical resource for those employers completing the survey.

Nothing in the survey report will be attributable in any way (and you can reply anonymously if you wish).
