Health and well-being tools and guidance

With employers paying £9 billion a year on sick pay and associated costs, investing in the health and well-being of your workforce is very important.

Employers interested in working out the cost of ill health to their business can use the Workplace Well-being Tool on the Department for Work and Pensions website. This online tool allows employers to build a business case for action to reduce those costs and to improve the health and well-being of staff.

Employers for Carers knows that some carers who don't know about, or don't feel able to access, carer friendly policies and practices sometimes have to resort to taking sick leave to deal with their caring responsibilities. Evidence shows that devleoping a culture that supports carers reduces sick leave and therefore reduces costs.

DWP also funds occupational health advice services in England, Scotland and Wales to provide small and medium-sized businesses with easy access to quality, professional advice that will help them support the health and well-being of their employees.
