The Employment Rights Act 1996, as amended by the Employment Relations Act 1999, gives carers rights to help them manage work and their caring responsibilities. (In Northern Ireland these laws are called the Employment Rights (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 and the Employment Relations (Northern Ireland) Order 1999).
