Starting, supporting and sustaining Carers Networks | October 2015

This members' networking event on 20th October was very well attended by our members and guests – full to capacity!  Our hosts KPMG provided a fantastic venue in Canada Square, wonderful catering and also allowed networking to continue for a further hour beyond the scheduled finish time.

The event was introduced by Carers’ Network member and KPMG Partner, Maggie Morrissey, and chaired by Ian Peters, Director of Customer Facing Strategy at Centrica. Speakers from various EfC members carers’ networks included: Geoff Kitchener, Chair, Centrica Carers Network; Hugh Neal and Lisa Coleman, Chair and Deputy Chair, KMPG Carers Network; Emma Bould, Project Manager, Network Rail and Helen Lederer, Head of Corporate Services, Prime Minister’s Office and Diversity and Inclusion Champion at the Cabinet Office.

This prompted a lively and interactive Q & A session with some really practical tips being shared by carers network leads – ranging from how to start a network from scratch to the importance of personal contact as well as using technology to raise awareness.

EfC will be incorporating this shared knowledge in our employers' toolkit which will be sent out to members shortly and also available in the members-only resources section of our website.
