Terms & Conditions

Members shall be bound during the continuance of membership by these Terms and

Conditions including any amendments made in accordance with the details set out below.

1. Membership applications

1.1 Applications for membership will be considered by the committee of Employers for Carers who, in exceptional circumstances, may refuse applications.

1.2 Reasons for refusal could include organisations whose aims or practices are in conflict with ours, or organisations that are acting illegally.

1.3 By submitting a membership form online or by email the member is deemed to have signed the membership form.

1.4 All information provided by members to us must be true and accurate at the point of joining. In the event of a change of circumstances such as moving jobs or change of contact details members must notify Employers for Carers so that our records are up to date.

2. Membership Payments, Renewals and Cancellations

2.1 Membership is for a period of one calendar year starting on the day the membership application has been approved and the member has been advised of their membership number. Payment must be received within 30 days of receipt of the invoice.

2.2 Payment can be made by BACS or Direct Debit. If membership payment remains outstanding Employers for Carers will notify members by telephone, email or letter. Employers for Carers reserves the right to cancel the membership if an invoice remains outstanding 3 months after its issue date.

2.3 Approximately one month prior to the date of annual membership expiry, Employers for Carers will send the member an email reminder that membership is due for renewal. If a member is considering cancelling their membership, they must, at this point, inform Employers for Carers in writing, stating a reason which will be recorded for internal use only.

2.4 If a member does not inform Employers for Carers of their intention not to renew membership prior to the actual date of renewal, Employers for Carers will allow 30 calendar days grace membership from the renewal date. Employers for Carers will attempt to contact the member further in this period, but if they do not receive a response within this 30 calendar day period, membership will lapse and the member will no longer be able to access membership resources and benefits.

3. Membership Benefits

3.1 Member benefits are only available if subscription payments are up to date.

3.2 Member benefits (resource pack, access to the efcdigital.org member platform and resources, free online membership of Carers UK for employees, annual free consultation/lunch and learn session, networking events, reduced rates for consultancy, training and publications) may change without notice.

4. Terminating Membership

4.1 Employers for Carers reserves the right to withdraw membership or to prevent members from renewing membership if the member puts the organisation into disrepute. For example inappropriate comments relating to carers in the workplace, inappropriate use of Employers for Carers’ materials and other practices that might adversely affect the reputation of Employers for Carers.

5. Intellectual Property Rights

5.1 Under no circumstance does the membership of Employers for Carers provide the member with any right(s) of ownership and/or possession of any material(s), image(s), text(s), software, project(s) or equipment that is/are used by Employers for Carers.

6. Disclaimer

6.1 Material on the Employers for Carers website is used for information or reporting only and is not intended to be a substitute for independent advice.

6.2 Employers for Carers makes every effort to make sure the content is accurate and up to date, but we accept no liability in relation to typographical error or third party information.

6.3 The Employers for Carers website contains links to other websites. These are provided as other useful sources of information. Inclusion of a link to another website does not imply endorsement by Employers for Carers of any kind as to their content or quality. Employers for Carers will not be responsible for the content or accuracy of content of third party websites.

7. Copyright

7.1 Employers for Carers has developed its expertise of providing information to employers and carers over many years. All material on the Employers for Carers website is protected by copyright.

7.2 Employers for Carers authorises you to reproduce the content of this site solely for your personal, non-commercial use provided Employers for Carers is acknowledged as creator of the content and is given reasonably prominent acknowledgement that you have created such content and provided it is not used in a context which damages our reputation.

7.3 Unauthorised use of the content may violate copyright, trademark and other laws. Employers for Carers does not allow our information and resources to be used on other websites without written consent. However, we are happy for other organisations to refer to our website in their own website and create appropriate links, provided it is not used in a context which damages our reputation.

7.4 Employers for Carers makes every effort to ensure its information is accurate, up to date and suitable for its audiences. We regularly review and update our information. We take no responsibility for any loss or damage arising from any use of this material.

7.5 Photographs from this website may not be used anywhere without prior permission.

7.6 Members are encouraged to promote their membership of Employers for Carers and can use the Employers for Carers logo with prior permission within our branding guidelines.

8. EfC Digital Platform & User Support

8.1 Employers for Carers (via Carers UK) owns and operates employersforcarers.org and efcdigital.org, via which it delivers a range of information and support resources to its member organisations. Individual employees of member organisations can use a unique access code to create an account and gain access to dedicated information and support resources developed to support working carers. 

8.2 Access to efcdigital.org, and the content on its platform, is restricted to member organisations and their own employees. If it is discovered that member resources and access to the platform has been shared outside the member organisation, Employers for Carers reserves the right to cancel the membership. The only exception is in the instance of ‘umbrella’ Employers for Carers membership, whereby an increased membership rate has been paid for the purpose of being able to promote membership beyond your own workforce to local SMEs and health partners.

8.3 Employers for Carers will provide its members periodically with anonymised statistics on access and use. We will not provide personal data or personally identifiable information for any individual employee accessing and using our websites and platforms. 

8.4 Employers for Carers will provide technical support to all users accessing its platforms using a unique access code linked to a paid membership account.

9. Variation of Terms & Conditions

9.1 These terms and conditions may be revised from time to time. If they are revised, Employers for Carers will notify members. It is the members’ responsibility to keep up-to date with all such changes and your continued membership shall be deemed acceptance of any changes to these terms and conditions.
